  1. Blan Says:

Bruce Golding shows the type of leadership Jamaica requires by stepping up to the plate and prevented what could have been a bloodbath after Portia’s tirade last night.
Let us hope good sense prevails and the country is not thrown into turmoil. If there are areas of that needs to be revisited go through the normal channels and avoid the inflammatory statements. After all is said and done Jamaicans must continue to respect democracy .

  2. Norma Lawrence Says:

I AM SURPRISE OF THE CLOSE CALL, BUT HAPPY THE JLP CAME

    THROUGH.

  3. Kuyro Johnally Says:

I think its long time now JLP should have taken over from the PNP party… Especially from portia i think she illiterate

  4. David Evans Says:

This is a victory for the country
If the PNP had won again it would have led us straight into a one party state
Portia ’s response to the elections was inappropriate and crude
There will be a lot of litigation but the elections shows some maturity. The approach to a Mamma culture and that Mamma knows best would have been very bad for the country.Portia was calling on Jamaica to allow her to rule the country as she rules her constituency
For last 20 years Jamaica has been one of the few Caribbean coutries that has not improved and has a economic growth rate of under 2%
I beleive that Golding and the JLP will do their best and we should give them a chance. But we should never have one party in powere for more than two terms. We should never allow the politicians to take people for granted .
Power to the people of Jamaica. They were not fooled by Portia nor by false prophets caliming that God had designated her to win the elections

  5. John\Burke Says:

    Congratulations to the people
A change was needed to restore teh democratic country
we need to unite now and support the new governmnet

  6. Floyd Says:

I am very happy about the outcome of this General Ellection. It’s not a victory for the JLP nor is it a loss for the PNP but it is Victory for Democracy and the Jamaican Peolpe. This is a clear indication to our politicians that the people run things and they are our ellected servants. We demand representation and respect from here onwards.
God bless Jamaica. God bless the Jamaican people.

  7. OneJamaica Says:

The foreign media is correct, especially since these are the preliminary results. Never forget that in the last elections, after recounts, there was one seat originally called for the PNP that switched to JLP so the same is possible now.

Also, with the PNP claiming to seek legal action on a couple seats, the tables could turn.

No matter what, common sense must prevail and Jamaicans need to stop being so violent, especially when it comes to politics. Any close result, no matter who ‘wins’ is a good result for Jamaica - it forces the parties to work together and compromise and that can’t be a bad thing at all.

No party secured a mandate - the popular vote was split. That means both sides have a lot of work to do to get majority support for their plans for a better Jamaica.

The people won this election - not the diehards, and it is about time the diehards have no more voice.

  8. Vivia Morris Says:

Congratulation to Bruce Golding and the Jamaica Labour Party. I hope they will be able to deliver the goods. Since the 1980s Jamaica has been going down hill so I hope this will change. Hope to see improvement in our economic status, health care, crime and violence, employment, tourism, education etcetera.
Better luck next time Portia, if there will be a next time.

  9. Brian Jones, New York Says:

As much as i am not for the JLP or the PNP, because they are one in the same, i am glad that JLP won. Portia should go back to school and learn what it takes to run a Country. I only hope that Bruce Golding start at the top and clean up the House of Representative. I think a lot of the old devils should go and make room for the young and vibrant who will be able to move this beautiful Country into a more productive Country.
As for the idiots who are killing their own people over an election, i say shame. For a set of people who portray how educated they are, they are really very dumd.

  10. R.F Brooklyn Says:

I wonder why the poor people in jamaica are getting alot poorer. I’m happy that bruce golding won but it doesn’t seems that the economic standing of most negroe jamaicans since the acquisition of independence have improved. The new investments in the country is great but who is is really benifiting. The conclusion that i arrive at is the culture of the people is what the real problems are. The people seems to to take politics so dear to their hearts so they are ready and willing to kill for their leaders. I look at the building of the palmyra estate do you think this is really built to be affordable to Jamaicans. If yes why are they marketing it mainly in the us. Jamaica needs to get rid of the so called garrisons because they breed crime and keep the arrogant culture going.
