There is no point in having a party for 5 terms with no real progress. I would love to invest in R&D in Jamaica.

We need to more sober than all this “Need a Change” argument, It is people that make a goverment, we need to look at the abilities of not just the leader but all who make up the government.

portia should have kept her promise to the entire country, including her workers.

I,m elated by the win for the J.L.P. But i’m also happy it wasn’t a slam dunk win, because they probably will get too comfortable. I now have some kind of hope that there may be some kind of reform, in the political system. Jamaica should abolish the monarchy sysytem and get on board with the presidential system. Maybe this might deter the formation of the so called political garrisons and make room for more checks and balances.

bruce golding will drive the country into chaos!!! u cannot have free education for secondary schools, the country doesn’t have the money for that!!! jamaica is in a debt crisis now and the country is gonna be in trouble. Mr president Bush, we cry out to you for help!!! Plz help the jamaican people from falling in the bruce pit. We are gonna need your help tremendously!!! nations pray for us, we wont be able to hide anymore from category 5 hurricanes. god bless our beautiful land!!!

Bruce is going to lead us to chaos? What do we have now?!? We can’t have free education, but we were able to host ICC World Cup?
Why can’t we afford it? When the JLP left office, the exchange rate was JM$5.50 = US$1.00. What is the rate now, after 18 years of Omar Davies?
September 4th, 2007 at 8:45 am
Well Done Bruce! you reunited the party and take us to victory. Take Jamaica forward progressively, I have all confidence the JLP will do well for the benefit of all Jamaicans.
September 4th, 2007 at 9:17 am
I certainly agree with Stefan P A …….. do you realise how much it cost to build that new world class stadium , that is sitting there doing nothing, not bringing in any revenue….. but costing us millions to maintain… that money could have been put to better use……. they could have created a small committee to seek business for this stadium instead of using it for one event and be done….
GO BRUCE GO…. GO JLP GO…. Bruce’s speech last night was excellent and I suspect that even if the results were reversed he would not have made a speech like Portia Lucretia Simpson Miller.
She knows the mentality of some Jamaicans and for her to make those kind of comments says alot , Put the people first, the safety of the country first , demand the recounts but be graceful about it, your first responsiblity is to the people of Jamaica.
September 4th, 2007 at 9:58 am
Jamaica needed a change of goverment after PNP 18 years in office. Portia-Simpson should accept the rsult immediately and let the country get on with the business of recovery from years of neglect to education, health, job creation, security and public works (road repairs).
September 4th, 2007 at 10:25 am
I totally agree with Stefan P. Now if you can’t do good in 18yrs. when are you going to start? And it is not Portia that is being voted out it is the PNP which includes Portia even though in recent times it seems to be a one woman band.
They have got to go!!!!
The intellects in the PNP should be rejoicing they can now change the their leader in the next AGM.
Go Bruce, you sound like a leader I felt good to be a jamaican after your speech last night
September 4th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
After over 30 years in parliament, failed leader of the NDM without one tiny accomplishment to show, this is the person that is going to give us free education , no hospital fees and no tolls on the roads being supported by Minister of Finance who run his little gas station bankrupt?
Seaga lasted for 2 years before the public saw the error of electing a JLP government, Bruce ??????Ha Ha Ha….next week!
September 4th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
It’s not all about Bruce, just like it was not all about Portia. I also do not recall the error in electing a JLP government before. That was the time we reversed the near-collapse of the 1970s.
In any case, let’s not perpetuate the negativity that has been associated with Jamaican politics. We have a fresh start, and all of us, whether or not happy with the results of the election, need to work together to improve the country.
The primary responsibility for moving forward lies not with Bruce or the JLP, or even Parliament as a whole. Rather, that responsibility rests with the people, especially with those of us who have the knowledge and education to get it done. It is the government’s responsibility to provide an environment where we can do precisely that.
September 4th, 2007 at 10:19 pm
It is full time for the change, let us all see which of them will and can make ja. in to what it use to be. as far i can see no promises can change anything ,both political parties need to work together , and try to set a better example for the youths, especially our children, as the are the future of our country. A preaching voilence cannot run the country.FREE UP EDUCATION…..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
