Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has put People’s National Party (PNP) supporters and candidates on alert for the upcoming local government election.
Local government elections are due by March 31.
While in Opposition, the PNP criticised the Jamaica Labour Party Administration for postponing the polls on several occasions.
However responding to recent comments by Opposition Leader, Andrew Holness, Simpson Miller told supporters at yesterday’s PNP National Executive Council Meeting in Ocho Rios, St. Ann that they should prepare for victory at the polls once again.
She said it was time for Jamaicans to be liberated and empowered.
The PNP lost the December 5, 2007 local government election winning only the Portmore municipality, as well as three of the 13 parish councils.
However, the PNP delivered a crushing 42-21 seat win over the Jamaica Labour Party in the December 29 general election.
