Clarendon South West and South East Roundup

As hinted when electoral workers and the security forces cast their ballots last week, there was a low turnout of voters in today’s local government election.

When The Gleaner visited the polling stations in Clarendon South West - Toll Gate area and Clarendon South East- Palmers Cross area, few persons were seen casting their votes. There were no long lines.

Things were not very different when checks were made at Glenmuir High School and Pleasant Valley Basic School polling stations.

Indicators are the turnout in today’s polls will be lower than of the 2002 Local Government elections.

Voters, for the most part, did not encounter any problems with finding their names on the voters' list in the respective divisions. Generally speaking the day was peaceful.
