MPs bat for peaceful election day
Ruth Coombs, Gleaner Writer

LINSTEAD: GENERAL SECRETARY of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Dr. Ken Baugh, yesterday toured sections of his constituency, West Central St. Catherine.

Dr. Baugh told his supporters that they are to exercise constraints and do not retaliate to abuses and, as much as is possible, get their voting done early and do not loiter on the streets.

A check with several polling stations in West Central and North West St. Catherine where Robert Pickersgill is Member of Parliament, revealed that campaigning has already been completed and people are getting about their business in a quiet way. Of special significance several churches will be open today for prayers for God's guidance and protection in the elections.

The police said they will not allow polling stations to be clustered and when persons have voted, they will be asked to leave the station. The police also said no one will be allowed to carry any weapon, as they could be arrested and brought before the law courts.
