'I've made my mark, now how do I remove the ink?'

Jamaicans all across the island came out on Monday to cast their ballots for the political candidate and, in some instances, party leader they believed deserved the chance to take the country into its next phase.

However, while many are now looking, with hope or maybe even trepidation, towards the next five years, the nagging question on the minds of many voters is how do I get this ink off my finger?

Well, for Kimberley Morgan, there's a simple solution. What she did was base her finger with Vaseline before she headedout to her constituency polling station.

"I did this because I knew the ink would naturally rest under my nail or in the creases of my finger," she said. "So I made sure to rub the Vaseline under my fingernail. When I got home, I soaked my finger in lime juice for about 10 minutes, then washed it with a little soap."

Kimberley says this little trick was able to save her newly done acrylic nails from a near fashion disaster.

For Dwayne Fagan, it was just as easy. He soaked his finger in a little laundry detergent mixed with bleach and water.

"My finger is now as good as new, except for a bit of ink in the creases," he said.

However, for those who may need a stronger solution, integrated science teacher at the St. Jago High School, Rhodson Walters, suggests soaking your finger in a little bleach, acetone or peroxide.

"A good old scrub with a washcloth dipped in soap and water may also do the trick," he said.
