JLP
rally Sunday night
THE
JAMAICA Labour Party (JLP) says its thrice-postponed mass
rally for Half-Way Tree, St. Andrew, will be held on Sunday
night.
Opposition
Leader Edward Seaga told supporters at a mass meeting in Denham
Town on Tuesday night that the JLP will be moving up a gear
in its campaigning this week with rallies in: Spanish Town
on Thursday night; St. Thomas on Friday night; May Pen on
Saturday night; and winding up Sunday night with the mass
rally in Half-Way Tree.
The
mass rally was originally scheduled for Monday, Septem-ber
23, the night after Prime Minister P.J. Patterson an-nounced
the date for the next general election, but had to be postponed
due to the inclement weather associated with Tropical Storm
Isidore. It was later rescheduled to Sunday, September 29
and eventually, Monday, September 30, but had to be postponed
on both occasions due to the rains linked to then Tropical
Storm Lili.
Dr.
David Panton, leader of the JLP's intellectual affiliate,
G2K, said yesterday that the party's campaign or Election
Train will be in Half-Way Tree on Sunday night for the party's
mass rally, as well as Montego Bay on October 13, where there
will be a final mass rally before the October 16 poll.
